Honoring Our Educators

American Education Week Honoring Our Educators

My memories of my favorite teacher were not all pleasant. In her class, she challenged her students to think and learn and to “stretch their brains.” It was not always a comfortable experience, but she always made me learn, and I always improved from the experiences, even though I may have not realized it then. I realize it now!

When educators push students out of their comfort zones, it helps them to be critical thinkers and problem solvers. These are the World Class Skills and Life and Career Characteristics from the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.

The National PTA says of teachers, “Teachers are real-life superheroes. They educate, innovate, encourage and support. Every day they touch the lives of millions of children and their work and impact extends far beyond the boundaries of the classroom.”

When I talk with our Chester County School District’s teachers, they always share a

message that shows how much they are dedicated to improving education in our county. I see it in the classrooms and schools every day as well.

Please thank an educator this week for all that they do every day for our children. I know how much I have benefitted from the gifts from my teachers each day, and you probably have too!

I cannot thank our educators enough for the importance of what they do for all of our students and for our community.

Make it a great week!
