Happy Thanksgiving

One of my favorite memories of this time of year is the movie, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!” Even though they are children, this group of youngsters show us the value of friendship and goodwill and for being thankful for all that they have, including each other.

Remember when Marcie says this to Charlie Brown?

Thanksgiving is more than eating, Chuck. You heard what Linus was saying out there. Those early Pilgrims were thankful for what had happened to them, and we should be thankful, too. We should just be thankful for being together. I think that's what they mean by 'Thanksgiving,' Charlie Brown."

That about sums it up for me! I am so thankful for my family and friends. As I reflect on the meaning of this day, I think of all for which Chester County can be thankful.

As we prepare to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday this week, I want to pause and give thanks for the children of our school district. We are fortunate to have these future minds in our care. We are fortunate to have the privilege of serving our children as educators and staff who work with these children every day.

Another line from “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” is, One of the best gifts you can give someone is the gift of thanking them for being part of your life.

This week, let’s do what Marcie tells Charlie Brown…. Give thanks for each other and being together! Wishing you and your family and friends a bountiful and restful Thanksgiving!
