2020 Census is Coming

2020 Census is coming in a few months! In fact, there are 166 days until the April 1, 2020 census!

The United States Census is taken every 10 years! That's right. The last time the census was taken was 2010. So the 2020 census is important to Chester County for the next 10 years!

The census is easy, private and important to all of us in Chester County!

Why is this important to our schools to get everyone counted in the 2020 census?

First, it is beneficial to us for applying for grants. Grants are FREE money! Most Federal grants are judged by the latest census data, so the more we count people who live in Chester County, the more we can qualify for grants for our students!

Next, it provides means for getting county and school district money from the Federal government! Did you know that for every person counted in the census, the county receives $1,500 per year. That's $15,000 per year for every person over the ten years of the census.

The census is private! When you respond to the census, your answers are kept anonymous. They are used only to produce statistics. The U.S. Census Bureau is bound by law to protect your answers and keep them strictly confidential. Your private information is never published and your answers cannot be used against you by any government agency or court.

The census is easy! The 2020 census can be completed from a tablet, a smart phone or computer. You can also complete this with a pen and paper!

It's important to count all of our children during the 2020 census. It helps families with young children and especially those families we serve in the school district.

By the way, the 2020 Census team needs your help! You can apply for a temporary job with the census. Just follow this link to apply!

Thanks in advance for helping us get a complete count for the 2020 census for Chester County residents!

Be counted!
