Whew! This has been a whirlwind week, and it is only Tuesday! Most of our county has been in a state of shock at the unprecedented arrangements we've all had to make because of the Coronavirus outbreak. It certainly is unnerving for us. We are all worried about the basic necessities of our lives right now, and especially for our students. The Chester County School District team is working to ensure that quality learning continues during this time.
When all of the world is in turmoil and crisis mode, it is the relationships with each other that really matters right now. We really do not know the true impact of this crisis yet. Therefore, we must plan and prepare for the next few weeks while our students are out of school. Our children are our responsibility, so maybe there is a silver lining in this crisis.
Last week and so far this week, I have been most proud and appreciative of the Chester County School District employees including our teachers, bus drivers, student nutrition services, administrators, district staff and our custodial services partner, The Budd Group. We have also had a number of our clergy and our county recreation department reach out to help us with feeding sites. What a wonderful feeling of teamwork!
It has been amazing to watch and be a part of the ground zero work of these groups so that we can get students breakfast and lunch and get alternative learning packets (paper and electronic) to all students.
I want the public to know what a dedicated and professional staff we have in our school district. I cannot thank them enough! They are a dedicated and caring team of people who love and care for our students.
In the words of Jon Gordon:
Three important truths to remember and share during challenging times:
1. Every challenge has an opportunity within it.
2. How you see the world determines the world you see.
3. We will overcome.
